    Sourcing With Purpose

Flexible options. Specialty focus. Ethically aligned.

At Ublend®, sourcing isn’t just about finding good coffee — it’s about building reliable, sustainable, and transparent supply chains that work for a wide range of customers. Whether you're launching a private label, running a high-volume café group, or curating a rotating single origin menu, we provide access to coffees that meet your taste, values, and price point — without compromise.

    What We Source

Our sourcing program focuses on 100% Arabica coffees, with a strong emphasis on specialty-grade lots (80+ SCA) known for their complexity, cleanliness, and traceability.

These coffees are typically grown at higher altitudes, handpicked at peak ripeness, and processed with precision — offering more dynamic flavour profiles and a cleaner cup.

But we also recognise the commercial realities of running a business. That’s why we offer a broader selection of coffees, including: commercial-grade and entry-level Arabica for consistent, accessible blends, mid-range specialty coffees with excellent cup quality and cost efficiency, microlots and seasonal standouts for limited releases and rotating menus, decaffeinated options, including Mountain Water and EA-processed coffees, and organic-certified and Rainforest Alliance coffees, where required.

This flexibility allows us to support brands that need both cost-effective volume and high-impact flavour — often in the same portfolio.

    Batch-Roasted Single Origins

In addition to blends, Ublend® offers a curated rotation of batch-roasted single-origin coffees, sourced in-season and updated weekly.

These small-lot coffees highlight unique processing styles, varietals, and terroirs — from naturally processed Ethiopians to clean, structured Colombians or bold Brazilian pulped naturals. Each coffee is selected based on flavour potential and roast versatility, freshness and harvest timing, alignment with specific brewing methods (espresso, filter, cold brew), traceability to the producer, farm, or cooperative, and seasonal availability and lot consistency.

These single origins are ideal for brands looking to offer limited-edition coffees, educate their audience, or explore origin diversity without committing to long-term volume.

    Our Sourcing Process

Our green coffee sourcing is managed through a mix of long-term importer relationships with local and international suppliers, direct trade and farm partnerships where scale and logistics allow, and on-the-ground origin collaboration through trusted exporters, QC labs, and cooperatives.

Every coffee we buy undergoes rigorous evaluation before it’s approved for roasting: sample evaluation and cupping in-house, roast profiling and test batch production (15–30kg), flavour calibration across espresso, milk, and filter applications, and consistency and availability check for scale-up and repeatability.

We prioritise suppliers who demonstrate ethical sourcing, producer support, and transparent payment structures — whether it’s a microlot or a mainstay blend component.

    Green Coffee Quality Testing

Every green coffee delivery is evaluated upon arrival at our Melbourne facility to ensure it meets our quality, consistency, and performance standards before production. We conduct statistically valid random sampling from each batch to ensure a representative analysis.

    Intake checks include:

    • Screen size analysis to assess grading and uniformity

    • Colour inspection for consistency and visual quality

    • Moisture content testing to ensure safe storage and even roasting

    • Defect identification to detect and reject off-spec lots

    • Sample roasting and cupping for flavour confirmation

    • 15–30kg test roasts to verify performance in production

These quality control steps help us deliver consistent flavour and minimise variability across batches.

    Designed Around Your Needs

Our sourcing isn’t static — it’s built around your business model.

Whether you're a boutique café needing 10kg a week of something bright and seasonal, or a multi-site hospitality group needing a consistent, price-sensitive blend roasted weekly, we’ll guide you to coffees that deliver both performance and story.

We can work to your existing specs (including matching your current blend or profile) or help you build something from the ground up — with control over origin, flavour profile, and price.
