All Our Coffees Are Specialty Grade — What That Really Means for Your Cup
At Ublend®, we’re proud to say that every coffee we roast and pack is Specialty Grade — not just good coffee, but certified exceptional. It’s something we take seriously, because “specialty” isn’t a marketing label. It’s a measurable, globally recognised quality standard that defines how coffee should look, taste, and perform in the cup.
So, what exactly is Specialty Grade?
Coffee is evaluated by professional Q-graders under the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) system. Each lot is scored out of 100 based on flavour, aroma, body, balance, sweetness, and clarity — and must score 80 points or higher to earn the title specialty. That’s a strict threshold. There’s also no room for defects — meaning no quakers, mould, or damaged beans that could affect the flavour. Every bean must be clean, well-processed, and traceable to its origin.
Why it matters for you
Specialty-grade coffee doesn’t just sound nice — it tastes different. Because these beans are grown at higher altitudes, hand-picked at peak ripeness, and processed with care, they naturally develop more complexity. You’ll find layers of sweetness, acidity, and aroma that cheap, commodity-grade coffee simply can’t deliver. In the cup, that translates to a cleaner, more balanced flavour — less bitterness, more clarity, and that lingering finish that keeps you going back for another sip.
How we roast specialty coffee at Ublend®
We take those premium green beans and roast them using computer-controlled precision — matching every batch to its exact roast profile for consistency. Our roasting systems are calibrated daily, and each batch is cupped and approved by our team before it ever reaches a café or a capsule. It’s that combination of technology, craftsmanship, and obsession with detail that ensures your coffee — whether it’s a blend, single origin, or decaf — always performs the way it should.
A final thought
Specialty-grade coffee is more than a score. It’s a philosophy — a promise that what’s in your cup has been nurtured, tested, and perfected at every stage. When you see the Ublend® label, you can be sure it represents traceability, quality, and a genuine respect for the craft of coffee — from the farm to your brand.
