The Ublend® Approach: From Sample Roast to Scaled Production
Creating a coffee blend that truly represents your brand takes more than just picking a few beans and calling it a day. At Ublend®, we use a structured, step-by-step process that ensures every coffee we produce meets your flavour goals, works across your menu, and is scalable for long-term success. Here’s how we build your blend from scratch — and why each stage matters.
Step 1: Sample Roasting on the Aillio Bullet (500g)
We begin with precision: small-batch roasting using our Aillio Bullet sample roaster. This roaster lets us explore individual green coffees at a 500g scale to understand their unique characteristics — body, acidity, sweetness, and finish. We roast multiple origins, test different roast levels, and blend post-roast in small test batches (e.g. 70/30 or 60/30/10) to see how they interact in the cup. This is where we discover what’s possible — and what’s worth scaling.
Why it matters: Fast, low-risk experimentation. Full flavour control before committing to volume. Ideal for comparing multiple blend combinations side-by-side.
Step 2: Small Batch Testing on the Brambati 30kg Roaster
Once we’ve shortlisted the top-performing blend(s), we scale the recipe up to 15–30kg batches using our Brambati 30kg production roaster. This step lets you taste your coffee in a real-world environment — on your espresso machine, in milk, or as a filter. It’s also where we fine-tune details like post-blend vs pre-blend roasting, extraction behaviour, and roast curve replication.
Why it matters: Verifies consistency when moving from small to commercial scale. Allows testing in your café or retail environment. Gives you the chance to tweak and perfect before locking it in.
Step 3: Main Production on the 120kg Roaster
With the blend finalised, we move into full-scale production on our 120kg Brambati roaster at our main facility. Every batch is roasted to the approved profile using real-time data tracking and expert roast control. We then pack your coffee into custom-branded bags — ready for café use, wholesale, or retail shelves.
